Haedong Young-gun sa

North-east, along the coast, from Haeundae(eastern Busan) you will find this temple.  Technically it is in a small city called Gijang, in my opinion it is one of the most beautiful temples in Korea, even though it is quite small.  It can be a little difficult to find, but it is well worth the effort.  Last time I was there, they were doing a lot of road works in the area, to make it easier to get to but they should be finished now.

Ulsan Whale Museum

In Jansaengpo, Ulsan there is a whale museum.  Ulsan used to be a whaling port before all the industry came here.  Now Ulsan is an industrial city, but this museum gives you a glimpse of its past.  A lot of this museum is new, I went to it about a year ago and it was only one building, now there are three buildings to this museum.  Unfortunately I have not had the time to visit all three buildings yet.

Daeleungwon

The heart of old Gyeongju is Daeleungwon, this is the place where many of the Kings and Queens of the Silla Kingdom are buried in their tombs.  Daeleungwon itself is a large park, with many tombs, and you can enter one of them.  This is a beautiful place to spend an afternoon with the family.  If coming from Ulsan, just take the number 7 road all the way north until you see a street sign telling you to turn left, the turn is probably less than a kilometer after the National Museum.  Across from Daeleungwon is another park where you can walk around, seem more tombs, a star observatory, and the remmants of an old palace.

Around my neighbourhood.

Mrs. Ulsan and I went for a walk around our neighbourhood and found some nice places.  The last couple of photos is taken from a hiking trail near our house.  When the weather improves we will go back there and take more photos of the trail and what we see.

Daewangam Park

In Dong-gu, Ulsan you can find this great pine forest park.  It is fairly easy to get here and is well worth a visit.  There are a couple of differnt trails in this park, but they all lead to the same area, Daewang Rock. In legend, Queen Munmu was submerged here after she died, and became a dragon to guard the East Sea. When you come here, I highly recommend you take trail 'A' and it gives you many great points to take photos and is a great trail with lots of shade, so you can enjoy your walk, even in hot weather.
